Background and Statement of Commitment
I am pleased to have small firms and sole practitioners as my core client base. My clients are diligent, talented lawyers who recognize the need and professional responsibility to ensure that accurate, comprehensive material is prepared for litigation matters. Most practice civil litigation and/or family law, and I strive to place them on a level playing field with large law firms.
My principal background and expertise is written advocacy. In my experience, particularly at the Court of Appeal, matters are often won or lost based on the written material provided in advance of the hearing. I also appear in court from time to time to argue complex matters.
I impose high standards for my work, and it is usually scrutinized not only by my law firm clients, but by opposing counsel and, if the matter proceeds to Court, at least one Superior Court justice, and quite frequently, by three-justice panels of the Divisional Court or the Court of Appeal for Ontario (sometimes both). Through comprehensive legal research and persuasive written advocacy, my goal is to have your firm win its case before the judges enter the courtroom.
